A PROJECT TO LAUNCH THE MARINE RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR
The NH1 project was designed as a catalyst for the commercial deployment of the tidal energy sector in France.
- Winner of the 2015 PIA and Authorizations received
- Farm of 4 tidal turbines, 12 MW at Raz Blanchard
- 33.9 GWh per year of energy produced
- 15,000 inhabitants supplied
- Its system: the most powerful in the world
- Its electricity cost: the most competitive on the French tidal market
- Proven cutting-edge technology leading the market
- Construction & assembly site: Cherbourg
- Job creator: 400 FTEs (indirect and direct)
NH1 project is at the heart of the local economy, with strong economic, environmental and social benefits
With a well-defined value chain, the development of the NH1 pilot farm will rely mainly on the know-how of French suppliers. Nearly 80% of the value of the NH1 project was entrusted to French companies, the rest to European companies. The NH1 project will mobilize 400 direct and indirect French jobs. Ultimately, the creation of a greater number of positions will continue to be created with the industrial and commercial development of the farm.
The sector generated 6,000 direct and indirect jobs in France from the 1st GW installed as well as significant income linked to the economic activities of the projects and the activities linked to their operation and maintenance of the parks.
